Today I’m going to talk about a new and exciting jailbreak tweak called MessageBox. The tweak allows you to enable Facebook’s new Chat Head feature system-wide.

If you’ve been around jailbreaking for any length of time, you probably weren’t surprised to see Chat Heads appear on iOS within such a short period of time. It was even less surprising when I heard who was actually behind the tweak — Adam Bell. jLauncher Reimagines iOS Multitasking

A new jailbreak tweak on the scene is called jLauncher and it dramatically reimagines what iOS multitasking can be. While the original iOS multitasking allows the user to quickly swap between programs, jLauncher adds a clock, music, sound, and brightness controls all to one page.

After downloading the program from Cydia, the user is able to assign an Activator action to jLauncher. This can be as easy as a double-press or triple-press of the home button, a swipe left on the status bar, or anything the user chooses.

Once opened, jLauncher occupies the screen. Open apps are displayed on the right, the clock at the top, and music, sound, and brightness controls beneath that. Very convenient.

However, as of now, it is not possible to enter “wiggly mode” from jLauncher. While this is a minor drawback, I would imagine it’s only a matter of time before the developer adds this feature.

jLauncher is available now in the Cydia Store for $1.99, via the BigBoss repository.

  1. Medical Encyclopedia – Get just what the title promises in this free app.  Provided by the University of Maryland Medical System, you can get top notch information on this handy little app.  It has a whopping 50,000 pages of relevant medical information and is even available in Spanish.
  2. Skyscape Medical Resources – If the above didn’t do the job, try looking up your medical topic here.  Over one million users have downloaded it get medical resources from doctors to students to patients.
  3. WebMD – This leading medical site has both an app for the iPhone and iPad offered for free. It includes many site favorites such as a symptom checker, first aid tips, conditions, and even a pill identification tool if you have pills but don’t know what they are.
  4. NEJM – What’s new in medicine?  Get this app from “The New England Journal of Medicine” to find out.  It contains the latest medical research, findings, and even expert opinions on the latest in health care.  You can also access many features without a subscription.
  5. Blausen Human Atlas – The real version may cost $19.99, but the lite version of the app is available for free.  It contains amazing 3D, narrated animations of medical conditions, as well as a medical glossary and tons of images.
  6. Epocrates – If looking for medical information on drugs, check out this free app.  They are one of the most widely used apps on the topic and offer information on prescription drugs, over the counter, and even diagnostic resources.
  7. Medical Spanish – If you need to say or read it in Spanish, check out this app.  Many doctors and nurses use it to help them communicate with patients who speak Spanish.  It even offers over 250 questions to help you learn.

ProTube: What Apple’s YouTube app should have been

The ProTube Cydia app is a complete YouTube application with tons of advantages over Apple’s stock YouTube.app. In ProTube, you can browse normally through YouTube, watch videos in High Quality or Standard Quality, manage your account, comment etc. You can also download an unlimited amount of YouTube videos and watch them offline. If you are someone who would like to download the audio from Music videos, for example, just the mp3 audio can be downloaded.

The ProTube Cydia app also includes a complete download manager, and includes support for AirPlay so you can stream videos to your TV. Another great feature is that downloads can be interrupted and ProTube also will also block annoying ads which makes loading of YouTube videos even faster.

As noted in the v1.3 update, ProTube can now download HD videos and stream videos even when they are blocked on mobile devices.

ProTube sells for $1.49 and is available on Cydia.
