Well, it’s a new month and it’s time for a new roundup of great apps for the jailbroken iPhone. The jailbreak scene continues to grow and talented developers continue to find ways to make the iPhone better and better. The apps below are just a few of the reasons why the iPhone remains the #1 smartphone and why any iPhone owner should strongly consider jailbreaking their device.
Jailbreak Information
Jailbreak Applications
- CallBar – Don’t let incoming phone or FaceTime calls interrupt what you’re doing on your device any longer. CallBar re-designs the incoming phone and video call interface to allow you to use your device while it’s ringing. Choose to answer, decline, or even dismiss the incoming call depending on your choice. Upon dismissal, the bar will shrink and cover the status bar – a safeguard just in case you choose to pick up the call after all or you accidentally dismissed. You can answer or decline the call from this dismiss view also. Dismissing the call silences the ring or vibrate, which is done by tapping the banner, hitting the Power button, or pressing the Volume buttons. To re-enable the ring or vibrate, simply tap the banner to bring the banner back up. All the above functionalities are available from the SpringBoard, within any application, and on the lockscreen. You could be texting, updating Twitter, surfing the web, or in the middle of using any application – CallBar allows you to continue what you are doing without interruption and gives you the option to handle the situation with ease.
- PageNames– Do you want to show or edit page names on your iPhone SpringBoard? Well, A new jailbreak tweak has released on Cydia which will show page names on the SpringBoard of your iPhone. The name of this tweak is PageNames. This tweak is developed by Elias Limneos. After you have installed this tweak on your jailbroken iPhone it will show titles for the springboard pages on top of every page. You can also change the name of the page when you tap and hold icons to edit their position. This tweak displays editable page titles on the Homescreen of your iPhone.
- Anicons– Much like the Homescreen Settings utility, Anicons will provide homescreen shortcuts to all of your favorite settings. Think of it like SBSettings toggles scattered amongst your springboard. So far, Anicons supports 5 of the most used settings including Data, 3G Data, Location, Vibration and Orientation Lock. With each rearrangeable icon you can enable or disable settings with a single tap. This will allow you to turn your bluetooth off quickly rather than going to Settings, General, Bluetooth, etc. Another cool detail is the fact that some of the icons actually show live stats. For example, the 3G Settings toggle displays the signal strength and is constantly updated to reflect the current status.
- AnimateBattery – AnimateBattery gives that boring old charging lockscreen battery some life, with some animation. Normally when you’re charging your iDevice, there is a battery on the lockscreen showing you the level of your iDevice’s battery. With AnimateBattery installed that boring old battery gets some life. So instead of it being stagnant on your lockscreen, it now has some charging animation going on.
- PasswordPilot – PasswordPilot is a new tweak available in Cydia your password for you when prompted by the app store. You don’t have anymore to enter your password each time you want to install an app from the app store. Once you install PasswordPilot, get to Settings app and tap on PasswordPilot then enter your app store password and save it. Now everytime you install an app, it will automatically enter your password.
Well, that’s it for now! There are always great, new apps popping up in Cydia and the above apps are some of my favorite ones from the past month. These apps are all great reasons to jailbreak the iPhone and much thanks goes out to the Dev Team, Chronic Dev, Comex and Geohot for their continued work in the jailbreak scene.
Thanks for reading and happy iPhone-ing!
