The ProTube Cydia app is a complete YouTube application with tons of advantages over Apple’s stock YouTube.app. In ProTube, you can browse normally through YouTube, watch videos in High Quality or Standard Quality, manage your account, comment etc. You can also download an unlimited amount of YouTube videos and watch them offline. If you are someone who would like to download the audio from Music videos, for example, just the mp3 audio can be downloaded.
The ProTube Cydia app also includes a complete download manager, and includes support for AirPlay so you can stream videos to your TV. Another great feature is that downloads can be interrupted and ProTube also will also block annoying ads which makes loading of YouTube videos even faster.
As noted in the v1.3 update, ProTube can now download HD videos and stream videos even when they are blocked on mobile devices.
ProTube sells for $1.49 and is available on Cydia.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 22,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 8 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
I often get asked what apps are most useful for the iPad. So, I’ve decided to post a list here. Without further introduction, here’s the list (in no particular order):
EDIT: I’m pressed for time right now, but I’ll add a link and summary for each later.

These slides go along with a presentation I put together on health informatics. Included are current concepts of health informatics, applications of the field, prior concepts, mathematics and probability-based systems and emerging concepts.

Of all the new tweaks coming out for iOS 5, IntelliscreenX is by far the best of them. Apple’s introduction of the Notification Center has revitalized the iPhone aging notification center and provided a way to organize all the various notifications that one receives during the day. However, like most things in life, it can always be a little better.
With this tweak, the iOS 5 Notification Center can be added to the Lockscreen, and you will not only be able to view the Notification Center from the lockscreen on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, but also dramatically extend the functionality of the Notification Center by adding the following features:
Collapsible Sections
QuickSettings Widget (frequently used functions such as airplane mode and brightness controller)
Top Shelf (A configurable bar that appears above notifications)
View Full Emails, Calendar, and receive RSS, Facebook and Twitter updates
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
Medical education and medicine are topics about which I often find myself thinking. I’m always interested in the questions of “Are we doing it the best way?”, “Is there a better way?”, “How do we adapt the fields to emerging changes?”, and so on. Too often I come to the conclusion that we’re not keeping up with advancements and, as Wayne Gretzky might have put it, we’re skating to where the puck is, and not to where it is going. Modern medicine is in danger of losing a powerful, old-fashioned tool: human touch. Physician and writer Abraham Verghese describes our strange new world where patients are merely data points, and calls for a return to the traditional one-on-one physical exam.
