The iPad 2 jailbreak – How necessary is it?

iOS Jailbreaking is a process that allows devices running Apple’s iOS operating system (e.g. iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and recently Apple TV) to gain full access (root access) to all features of the said operating system, thereby removing limitations imposed by Apple. Once jailbroken, iOS users are able to download additional applications, extensions and themes that are unavailable through the official App Store, via installers such as Cydia, one of a number of current means for older iPhones. For now (3/20/2011), stay away from version 4.3 as the jailbreak is not yet ready for release (with the exception of the Apple TV). Continue reading

Typically, that’s how Apple’s App Store works. Now, let’s talk about what has become a great alternative to hoping your hard-earned money isn’t wasted: Installous. Continue reading
